Honesty is the best policy

Selmak glared at Delek. “That's enough!” she said, pushed back from the table and standing up leaning across it, shoving her face into his. “I have heard enough of your lies and deceit to last several lifetimes!”

Delek looked at her, his face as impassive as ever. “Have you? Well with your host I am not surprised. The Tau'ri are not known for their truth or their diplomacy.”

The other Tok'ra in the hall fell silent. This had been building for a while and like a boiling kettle had to vent.

“Neither are you,” Selmak shot back. “I have been a leader of this council since before you…”

“Heard it before,” Delek sighed. “Maybe you should just retire. Let the younger ones have their say.”

Selmak glared at him again. “I have been longing to tell you what I thought of you for many years, but Saroosh was too much of a lady. Jacob on the other hand has no such qualms… So let's tell it like it is then,” she told him and pulled a piece of cardboard from her pocket. She flung it down on the table in front of him.

Delek picked it up. He turned it over. “What is this?” he asked looking at the strange design. A two headed man with some kind of chequered robe on and a strange symbol in the corner.

Selmak raised an eyebrow. “You need me to explain?” she asked. “It is a reference to an old Tau'ri phrase about shovels.”

Jacob snorted in their mind. <You are evil sometimes.>

<Just telling it like it is Jacob.>

<You HAD to make it the king of spades, huh?>

<Well, I doubt the 2 of hearts would have had the same effect. And the Ace is hardly appropriate.>

Delek turned the picture over in his hand. “I do not understand,” he said.

Selmak sighed. “And I thought you were wise and all knowing,” she said. She looked at him. “It means you are the most arrogant, self seeking, self opinionated, narrow minded, pig headed, obnoxious, self obsessed snake I have ever had the misfortune to work with.” She left the room, noticing that although Delek had finally closed his mouth he was still turning the card over looking very confused.
