Prompt: #16 - Purple
Summary: When I am an old woman I shall wear purple
AN: Inspired by the wonderful poem Warning by Jenny Joseph

Selmak looked at her reflection in the mirror and smoothed down the bright purple dress as her laughter echoed Saroosh's. This was going to be such fun. She could almost see the look on the council's faces now when she arrived. She and her host may be old but they were not above having fun. Saroosh shared Selmak's wicked sense of humour. She adjusted the bright red hat on her head, making sure it was at a jaunty angle. Okay it clashed hideously with the dress which was just what she wanted. Then she pulled on the gloves and the satin sandals. Finally happy with her appearance she left her chamber.

She skipped down the tunnels, singing to herself and ignoring the strange looks she got from the others. She passed Delek and surprised him by throwing her arms round him and hugging him, before pulling him into an impromptu dance. Then she moved away beating out a rhythm with her fingers along the crystal walls leaving a stunned Delek just standing there, mouth open.

Thirty minutes late because time really didn't matter in the grand scheme of things, Selmak entered the council chamber. She waltzed in, holding her lilac boa as an imaginary partner, singing the dance music aloud. It was worth the shocked looks she got she decided. But since when did anyone have to grow old gracefully?
