Summary: It's not junk! It's memories.
Jacob pulled out the huge trunk. <You know for such a small symbiote you sure do have a lot of junk> he complained. <What's in here anyway?>
<It is not junk! It is memories> Selmak answered.
<That's it? Just memories? Haven't we got enough of those already Sel?> Jacob lugged the trunk over to the bed and sat down to open it.
Selmak shook her head. <You can never have enough memories> she said. <Besides these are special.> She came fore and pushed the lid right back. <Things from my past hosts, something that meant something to each of them.> She pulled out a red hat. <Saroosh wore this to a council meeting once.> She showed Jacob the memory of the hat and purple dress and he laughed.
<Dancing with Delek eh?> he giggled.
Selmak nodded. <Worth it for the look on his face. Surprised his jaw didn't break when it hit the floor.> She pulled out a golden belt. <This was Tasman's. She wore it constantly, even over the Tok'ra uniforms.>
<Bet the council loved that one as much as the dancing.>
<They knew not to argue with her. Her temper was about as good as yours.>
Jacob smiled. <I see.>
Selmak reached further into the trunk pulling out a file. She laughed. <This was Tabitha's. She once rearranged Delek's desk for him. Swapped all the files with Garshaw's. Problem was he had been keeping secret notes on all the council members and when Garshaw read them she was furious! He got send to another base far far away for a very long time.>
She pulled out a long white dress. <And this was Mary's. It was her wedding dress. She kept the dress to remember him by.> She paused. <You know… she could still fit in it the day she died.>
Jacob smiled. <It's pretty.>
Selmak reached into the bottom of the box pulling out the last two items. <The book is Jaina's. It is her diary. The council would have gone ballistic if they knew she kept one. It lists all the missions we went on, who we saw and so on.>
Jacob nodded. <But she kept it anyway?>
Selmak nodded. <Yes. And this> she said looking at the last item. <Was Valeria's knife. I have engraved all the names of my hosts on it.> She turned it over in her hands showing him.
<My name isn't there> Jacob said.
<Because I do not need to remember you> Selmak whispered.
Jacob hugged her. <How about we carry that knife instead of mine?> he suggested. <That way we carry their memory around with us constantly?>
Selmak nodded. <I like that idea.> She repacked the trunk and placed Jacob's knife in there too then put the other one on their belt.
<They are part of who you are> Jacob told her. <It's not enough just to pack them away in a box and bring them out occasionally. They should be with us all the time, and now they are.>
