Jacob couldn't believe how he felt as they placed the tiny bundle into his arms. He gazed down in wonder at the wide blue eyes looking up at him. A shock of black hair framed his head. And he was absolutely amazed that he helped to create this new life. “Hey,” he whispered. He looked up at Janet and smiled.
She smiled back; she was exhausted but ecstatically happy. “He looks like you,” she said. “Daryl Selwyn.”
Jacob smiled. “Daryl after your father and Selwyn after…”
Janet just smiled. “Guess,” she whispered.
Jacob leaned over and kissed her. “Thank you,” he said. “For that and for our son.”
Sam knocked on the door. “Can we come in?” she asked.
Jacob nodded and watched his other children come in. Sam, Mark, Cassie and now Daryl. Four children. They oohhed and ahhed over the baby and all took turns at holding him. Mark looked at him. “It's a good feeling isn't it?” he said recognising the look in Jacob's eyes.
Jacob nodded. “I had forgotten just how good,” he smiled.
