The Betrayal
By Tels.
The gate opened with a whoosh and Jack stepped out first. The rest of SG1 followed soon after. Jack looked round. “Quiet,” he said. “Too quiet. You sure you dialled right Carter?”
“Yes Sir,” Sam said rolling her eyes slightly. “This is where Dad said to meet him - P5B-728. He did say he'd meet us by the gate though.”
“Maybe his watch stopped,” Daniel said looking at his. “Because we're on time….Or not,” he finished. “According to this we are an hour early. “
“So let's spread out and see what's here. Carter you go with Daniel. T you're with me.” Jack headed off before anyone could argue.
The others nodded and they split up heading off in the direction Jack had indicated. Tree's lined the path. Lots of trees. And it was raining. <No surprise there> Daniel thought. <Trees and rain. Just like Earth. In fact just like most other planets they had been too. >
Sam pulled her collar up tight round her neck. “Just like everywhere else,” she muttered. “Can't they send us somewhere dry for once?” Not looking where she was going she bumped into Daniel who had stopped suddenly. “What's up?” she asked looking at him.
Daniel stood with his hands raised, looking into the faces of four Jaffa with staff weapons aimed and ready to fire. The little squiggle on their foreheads was none that he had ever seen before, as it looked like a stylized S.
<I don't think that they're Seth guards, maybe Sekhmet?> Daniel thought.
“Oh,” Sam said raising her hands.
One of the Jaffa quickly disarmed them and bound their hands. He then smiled. “My lord will be pleased with your capture. Where are the others?”
“What others?” Daniel asked. “It's just us.”
“There were four of you who came through the chappa'ai. Where Are The Others?” the Jaffa roared.
“I Don't Know!” Daniel replied slowly. “Why don't you find them?”
“Oh we will. My master is most anxious to see you.”
“Yeah, I don't recognise the symbol. Who is your master?”
“We serve the newest System Lord - Lord Selmak.”
Sam looked flabbergasted when she realised that her Dad was now the host of the Newest, Baddest System Lord on the block. “WHAT???”
Daniel, whose mind also couldn't wrap itself around the concept that Jake Carter and Selmak were actually Goa'uld, looked at Sam sympathetically and then back at the Jaffa . “There has to be some mistake.”
The Jaffa raised his zat. “No mistake,” he said firing once on both of them sending them to the floor. “Take them to the palace. Lord Selmak is waiting,” he told the other Jaffa .
Selmak's rise to power had been swift. Once she had taken Air Force General Jacob Carter as a host and had access to all his knowledge, she had swiftly taken out most of the other System Lords one at a time. Ba'al, Yu, Bastet, Morrigan, and Kali had all fallen by her hand. Anubis and Chronos were proving to be a thorn in her side but with the capture of SG1 that would resolve itself. She would lure them to meet her and kill them and SG1 at the same time.
And now the Tok'ra did not exist, again due to the mind of her host, the rebellion was over. It had been simple given her place on the high council. They trusted her. That had proved their undoing. Her subterfuge on the Alpha site had succeeded in wrecking the worthless alliance between Tok'ra, Jaffa and Tau'ri. After that it was easy.
The Tok'ra had withdrawn and she had taken the Tok'ra traitors out one at a time.
Her only sorrow was the death of Malek. She had quite liked him.
However Anise on the other hand … her death had been slow and painful and unique. This had been all the more enjoyable because her host hated her as much as Anise had loved him. She had let Jacob handle that one. She had got used to his input, the sadistic streak to him. The way he took pleasure in the sheer evilness of what they did.
Especially Delek. He was still paying for what he had done to her.
She still shared the body with Jake, taking it in turns to have control, keeping the Jaffa on their toes as they never knew who they were going to have to deal with.
Except for her First Prime.
George Hammond always knew which one was in charge of the body.
It had been her host's idea to use George as her First Prime. The two of them had found the Prometheus heavily damaged after a fire fight and Selmak had salvaged what crew she could, and turned them into her Jaffa , by using nishta and a few other tricks. But George….George had been different. He had been near death and so she had used the sarcophagus on him, repeatedly, until he was hers, heart, mind, body and soul.
Her Jaffa took to calling her my lord because her host was male which suited her fine. She wore black leather and silk shirts; a far cry from the rough burlap and tripe fatigues of the Tok'ra and had taken to wearing an eye patch, for no other reason than she liked it. Plus Jacob had always had a thing for black leather and eye patches. It was something to do with a Pirate movie or something. Or was it the Terminator one? No matter.
She would soon be the single Supreme System Lord and then she would return to Earth and obliterate the Tau'ri. Starting with those at the SGC. Then moving onto the White House and assuming the presidency and taking over the world.
Or rather exterminating the world.

Jack and Teal'c returned to the Stargate. “Where are they?” Jack muttered his sixth sense prodding him with a Big Stick and screaming that something was terribly wrong.
“I do not know,” Teal'c replied. “Perhaps you should try your radio?”
Jack raised an eyebrow. “Perhaps I should.” Grabbing his radio he said, “Daniel, Carter come in.” Static answered him. “Daniel, Carter,” he repeated.
“Perhaps they are busy,” Teal'c said.
Jack looked at him. “Perhaps they are busy???” he repeated. He stiffened slightly as something poked him in the back. “Daniel cut it out,” he started.
“You will not move,” a voice told him.
Jack looked over at Teal'c and saw a jaffa behind him, staff weapon in his back. He figured that was what was behind him. “Okay, we'll just stand here then.” After a minute he said, “Can I move now?”
“Our Lord wishes to see you.”
“You know it's about time you guys came up with a new line. By the way nice tattoo. New guy on the block I assume.”
The jaffa hit him with the staff weapon. “You will move. Our lord does not like being kept waiting.”
--- --- --- --- --- ---
There was a knock on the door and Jacob looked up as his first prime came in. “I thought I told you….” He yelled.
George looked at the small petite figure in Jacob's arms and immediately apologised. “Forgive me for disturbing you and my Queen, but SG1 has been captured, my Lord Jacob. They are waiting in the cells.”
Jacob smirked. “Let them wait. I have unfinished business here.” He turned back to his wife. “Now my love where were we?”
Janet looked at him. She could hear the symbiote within her cry out in protest but the detachment device she wore meant that he could never take prominence and could not do anything. Kind of like being in stasis only aware of what was inflicted on the hosts body. Part of Selmak's punishment had been a slight modification of his genetic code, so now Delek was a fully functional Queen. He had produced several broods of symbiotes and Selmak wanted many more for her army of super soldiers.
And Delek was unable to prevent any of it. This was exactly the point Selmak wanted to make. This way the traitor's punishment would be long. Very long. This way Delek was subjected to this punishment for eternity.
Janet smiled at him. “We were here my love,” she said pulling Jacob towards her. He had saved her body before the Tau'ri buried it. He and Selmak had revived her in the sarcophagus, many times until like George she was his heart and soul. Although it did help that she had always loved him. She would do anything for him, either of them.
Jacob dismissed George with a wave of his hand as he began kissing his queen.
George headed down to the cells.
--- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- ---
In the cells Jack looked at Sam in complete disbelief. “You what??? Jacob? I never trusted that snake in his head. Selmak was always just too damn helpful.”
“That's what they said but I don't believe it. Dad would never…..” Sam broke off.
“We knew there was someone new out there when all the system lords started being killed,” Daniel said, putting an arm round Sam to comfort her. “But I can't see it somehow. System Lord Selmak ??? ”
The cell door flew open.
“Here we go,” Jack said. “This is where Selmak the Snake's first prime comes in and says in a dramatic voice….”
“How the mighty SG1 have fallen,” a very familiar voice.
Four pairs of eyes looked up in horror, taking a moment to recognise the all too familiar man, thought he had never worn black leather in all the time that they had known him, nor had he had the S tattooed on his forehead. Their shock was akin to finding out that Father Christmas was a vicious axe murderer.
“General Hammond???” they yelped in perfect unison.
“But you're dead ,” Sam said. “The Prometheus was destroyed.”
“Not so. I am First Prime to Lord Selmak.”
“Talk about your midlife crisis and your career changes George,” Jack stated dryly.
George swung one beefy arm easily, catching Jack's face with his hand that was encased in a studded iron. Jack collapsed on the floor, moaning.
“You will find that System Lord Selmak is rather tired of your mouth,” George told Jack sharply. “As am I.”
Daniel pulled Jack back before he could lay into George and handed him a hanky to blot the blood pouring from his lip.
Jack looked at it. “Is this clean??” he asked.
Daniel looked at him weird. “Women never complain in the movies,” he said. “You give them a used hanky and they are eternally grateful.”
Blotting his bleeding mouth Jack said, “I'm not a woman in case you hadn't noticed.”
George grinned nastily. “Neither was Delek.” He pulled Sam to her feet. “Someone wants to see you.”
Jack got up. “Uh no. She goes and we go….”
George shook his head, hitting Jack again hard, sending him back to the floor.
Jack groaned. “Thanks. That's both lips split now.”
“Want the nose to match?” George asked. He had been longing to do this to the insubordinate subordinate for years. For good measure he pushed his steel toed boots into a spot near and dear to Jack's heart. “Or perhaps another body part of which you're more enamoured? You could sing the praises of Lord Selmak in a high soprano.”
“I'll take a rain check thanks,” Jack said.
Teal'c looked at Jack. “What does checking the weather forecast have to do with MajorCarter's father being a System Lord?” he asked. Then he said, “Do you wish to go with this man MajorCarter?”
Sam struggled. “Don't think I have much choice. Hopefully I can get this sorted. Dad can't be one of them.”
“Oh but he is…..” George sneered as he dragged her from the room. “And you will soon join him.”
--- --- --- --- --- ---
Jacob stood by the window in the throne room. The view was quite spectacular – miles of mountains. A noise from the door made him turn.
Sam wrenched her arm free of George. “Dad,” she said. “Dad???” She looked him up and down in amazement. Tight black leather and an eye patch??? She had never Ever seen him wear Anything like this. He had always been conservative in his choice of clothing – he always wore a shirt, no matter how hot the weather had been. A plain, simple shirt, not silk like one he had on now however.
“Sam,” he said. “How nice of you to visit.” He looked over at George. “Bring O'Neill.”
"Can I gag him if necessary?" His First Prime asked.
"George, do you even need to ask? Selmak and I are both tired of his non-stop mouth," Jacob answered. "Go have fun, but don't kill him.” Jacob moved down to where Sam stood and went to hug her.
She stood stiffly in his arms, making no move to hug him back.
“What's wrong Sammie?” he asked using the old nickname for her.
“Good question Dad,” Sam answered, pulling away. “What is wrong – with you?”
Jacob looked at her. “Nothing is Wrong. Everything is Right.”
“How can you say that? Look at you – You're a …a…” she broke off.
Jacob's eyes glowed harshly as Selmak came fore. “I think the term you are looking for is System Lord Samantha,” she said.
Sam shook her head. “No, you're Tok'ra….not a Goa'uld.”
Selmak grinned at her. “And I took you all in didn't I? All of those Tel'ak Shol'va Tok'ra . For years I bowed and scrapped before them. The oldest and wisest ….” She threw her head back and laughed. “Hahahahahaha! If only they knew. All the time they thought I was working for them I was working against them. A little deception here, misinformation there….” She broke off as Jack was dragged in.
“Kneel before your god!” George demanded.
Jack let out a snort of derisive laughter. “Selmak?? A god?? Oh please!”
George swung his staff weapon into the backs of Jack's legs, knocking him off balance.
Jack regained his balance and swung round, flooring George with a swift left hook.
Selmak moved over to him and gripped Jack tightly by the throat. “You Will Kneel!” she hissed, lifting his feet off the ground.
Jack grabbed at her hands, gasping for breath. “I…Will…Not!” he managed.
Selmak threw him into the wall, smiling as a bone broke with a satisfying cracking sound. She advanced towards him. “You Will Kneel or you will die!” she told him, holding out her hand with the ribbon device on.
“DAD!” Sam yelled. “NO – you can't!”
Selmak glared at her. “Yes Samantha I can.” She let loose a bolt of orange light from the ribbon which pushed Jack back into the wall.
Jack grunted and saw stars.
“Kneel or die!” Selmak insisted.
“Sir….” Sam pleaded.
Jack looked at her and struggled onto his knees. He looked defiantly at Selmak. “Happy now?”
Jacob laughed. “Oh yeah. I never thought I would see the day when the infamous Col O'Neill bowed to me. I have longed for this day.” He turned to Sam. “Have you eaten?”
“A little” she said surprised. “Why?”
“I have something for you.” He turned to the jaffa. “ JAFFA CAKE!!!!”
The jaffa nodded. “Certainly My Lord,” he said and left the room
Jack shook his head. “No that's Jaffa KREE! K-R-E-E. Not cake.”
Jacob aimed the ribbon device at Jack. “Shut up!” he yelled, blasting Jack across the room and into the wall. “I really have had as much as I can take of the insubordination.”
The jaffa came back in with what Jacob had requested.
Jacob took them. “I know how much you love them Sam. I figured your last meal may as well be something you enjoy…..”
Sam looked at the plate of jaffa cakes. “Not hungry.” She said.
Jacob raised an eyebrow. “Then go without,” he said. He raised the ribbon and blasted Sam into the wall where she lay unconscious next to Jack. “Take them away and prepare them,” he said. Moving to the throne he sat down and started eating the jaffa cakes himself. “Just can't get the kids these days,” he muttered. “But they will make excellent jaffa.”
--- --- ---
Selmak stood over the bruised, battered and unconscious form of Jack. She looked at her first prime. “George George George,” she sighed.
George looked at her. “I only did as I was told my lord.”
“When Jacob said break him we didn't mean it literally.” She sighed. “Take him off the rack. Put him in the sarcophagus then bring him to me. I want his spirit broken not every bone in his body.” She moved over to Sam. She was chained to the wall, a large bruise on her face. Selmak looked at her and relinquished control to Jacob. “What happened Sam?” he asked.
“Like you care,” she said, turning her face away.
Jacob pulled her face towards him. “I have something for you,” he told her. “It's thanks to you that I am who I am. After all if you hadn't introduced me to Selmak then I'd be dead right now. We are both very grateful so we have a present for you.”
Sam looked at him. “What?”
Jacob turned. “Come here my love.”
Janet moved over to his side and took his hand.
Sam's face dropped about a mile. “Janet?”
“Hey Sam,” Janet said, sliding an arm around Jacob.
“But you're dead… I read the eulogy at your funeral….”
“We retrieved her body and revived her in the sarcophagus. What you buried wasn't Janet. I lost one woman I loved; I wasn't going to lose another. We had been seeing each other for a while. You didn't really think I came to the SGC just to see you?”
Sam looked her up and down taking in the way she was dressed and her swollen stomach. Her face dropped again.
Jacob smiled at her and put a hand on Janet's stomach. “You're going to be a big sister,” he told her. “It's not a Harsesis,” he told her. “Janet was expecting long before we blended her with Delek.”
“Wait a minute, Janet's a Goa'uld?”
Jacob grinned. “She is Host to Delek, so she is a Queen in more than one sense of the word – as well as this little one she has spawned several broods for my army of super soldiers.”
Janet looked at her. "You can call me, Mom, Samantha, I'd like that. You, me, your father and the baby. We're a little family now..."
Sam turned away. “I'm gonna be sick,” she muttered.
Jacob nodded to Janet and she moved over to Sam a device on her hand that would make the pouch for the symbiote. She moved over to Sam. “Don't fight it,” she said. “It really isn't that bad.” She pulled Sam's top up pressing the device to her stomach.
Sam looked at Jacob. “Please Dad don't do this,” she said.
His eyes glowed and Selmak took over. “The very young do not know what is good for them,” she said.
Janet activated the device and held it there, ignoring Sam's screams of pain.
Then as Sam slumped forwards she turned to Daniel. She ran a hand down his face.
“Don't,” he said turning away.
Ripping his shirt, Janet pressed the device to his stomach, turning him too into a jaffa.
She grinned at Teal'c and then turned back to Selmak. “It's time,” she told him.
Selmak smiled and took her hand. “Then you may chose which of your children go into which of my new jaffa,” she said. “I must go and see Jack….” She broke off and gave control to Jacob. “I have a better plan,” he said. He leaned over and whispered to Janet.
She laughed. “Oh you are awful but I like you.”
----------
Jack came round with a groan. He ached everywhere. He glanced round but didn't recognise where he was. A petite brunette in a white coat leaned over him. “Welcome back Col. We weren't sure you were going to wake this time.”
Jack struggled to focus. “Janet? But you're dead….”
Janet smiled. “Oh if only I got paid for being told that. Sam and Daniel told me the same thing. Now lie still. You have a nasty stomach wound as well as a head injury.”
Jack glanced down over his bare chest at his stomach. It was swathed in bandages. “What happened?”
“You ran into a load of jaffa on your last mission, took a staff blast to the stomach. The Tok'ra have sent Jacob to try and help with the healing device otherwise you will be invalided out and confined to bed for the rest of your life.”
“Gee thanks. Little ray of sunshine aren't you? Whatever happened to lets not tell the patient the truth?”
Jacob moved over to the bed. “We can lie if you want,” he said dryly.
“Hello Jacob. I had this weird dream about you.”
“Hello yourself Jack. Should I be worried?” Jacob smiled.
“Only about your snake. Supreme system lord Selmak was her title. Gen Hammond was your first prime and you had a thing about black leather. Fitted black leather.”
Janet giggled. “Sounds more like my dreams,” she said glancing sideways at Jacob. “Well the leather anyway.”
Jacob smiled at her. “For you anytime,” he said. Then he looked at Jack. “I assume you don't mind me attempting to heal you.”
Jack shook his head. “Just don't offer me jaffa cakes,” he muttered.
Jacob shook his head. “They are mine and Sam's,” he said. He brought up his left hand.
Jack's eyes widened in fear. “That's not a healing device,” he said, trying to get up.
Immediately restraints leapt up from the sides of the bed, trapping his legs and ankles.
Jacob's eyes flashed. “You will serve me,” Selmak told him, pressing the device against Jack's stomach. “You will join my new team of jaffa. SJ1.”
“SJ1?” Jack gasped.
“Selmak's Jaffa 1,” Selmak laughed.
SJ1 stood before Jacob. He moved round them slowly inspecting their new tattoos and new uniforms. It had been an interesting experience for Teal'c, first having the original tattoo removed and then the new one done. He had also had the tretonin stopped and a symbiote re-implanted.
Jacob put an arm round Sam and pulled her towards him. “Very lovely,” he told her. “But you'll look so much better in white.”
She looked at him. “White??” she said suspiciously.
Jacob nodded. “It is still customary to get married in white is it not?”
“Mmmmarried??” Sam managed.
Jacob nodded. “It's okay – I have arranged everything for you. Right down to your husband.”
Jack glared at him. “Now just wait a minute,” he said. “Arranged marriages went out with the Ark. ”
Jacob turned and back handed him. “Keep out of it!” he said. Turning back to Sam he continued. “As your dating life has always been a disaster you should be glad I found a nice stable guy for you to marry.”
“But Dad I have a nice stable guy thank you,” Sam said. “Jack and I have been involved for a while now and……”
Jacob snorted cutting her off. “There is Nothing nice or stable about Jack O'Neill Sam. Like I said your dating life is a disaster. Never mind the fact you broke the regs by seeing him.” He turned back to Jack and floored him with a left hook. “That's for touching my daughter.”
Sam looked at him. “Dad please… Don't I get a say in this?”
“No,” Jacob said shortly. “I know he'll treat you well and even if you don't love him now you will in time. And after the first couple of grandkids you give me….”
“Grandkids?” she yelped. “You want me to….”
Selmak came fore suddenly with her eyes flashing. “Did your father teach you nothing Samantha?” she said. “You get married and you have children. That is the whole point of the exercise.”
Jacob took control back. “Sam honey, after the first few grandkids you'll know I did the right thing.”
“So when do I get to meet him?” she asked.
“Oh you already have,” Jacob said. “George? Come say hello to your bride.”
--- --- --- ---
One week later.
The gate activated and four SG teams and Bra'tac stepped through the gate. SG1 had reported in daily and had requested heavy backup the last time. So SG2, 3 and 4 had come in response. Bra'tac had arrived at the SGC to see Teal'c as a matter of some urgency and had accompanied the SG teams as a result.
Jack with cap pulled well down stood waiting at the bottom of the steps for them. He wasn't in uniform to the surprise of the new arrivals, but in tight black leather. Bra'tac looked at him strangely but let Col Matheson of SG2 query it. “No uniform Jack?” he asked.
Jack smiled. “Not the sort you mean. Leave your weapons here.”
“ Col ?” Matheson said.
“I said leave them!” Jack said. He whipped off his cap to reveal the S tattooed on his forehead. He raised his hand and a platoon of jaffa wearing the super soldier armour moved in to surround them. “Play nice or I let the boys cut their teeth on you. And I don't think our lord would like that much. Do you?” He waved his hand. “Move out.”
-------------
Jacob sat sprawled on his throne; Janet across his lap, her hands entwined in his hair such as it was. He heard someone come in and cough discreetly. He glanced up from kissing his wife and said dryly, “The doctor is engaged. Come back later.” Then he slid a hand round her neck and kissed her again, this time passionately, his other hand caressing her back.
“My lord,” the voice said.
Jacob rolled his eyes and broke off for an instant. “Go Away!” he said.
Daniel stood there. “It's important,” he began.
“So's this,” Jacob said firmly.
“Jacob… my lord I really must insist…”
“We are trying to have a moment here now turn around and Go AWAY!” His voice rose in anger and the veins started to throb on his neck.
Janet looked at Daniel. “Unless you want him to lose his temper….”
Jacob pushed her off his lap, eyes glowing hot as Selmak took over.
Daniel immediately dropped to one knee. “My lord I am sorry.”
Selmak stood over him and pulled him to his feet by his hair. “I am sure you are, and so am I.” She pulled her hand back and curling her fingers into a fist she drove it hard into Daniels stomach. Several times.
Daniel gasped and doubled over as far as he could, the tight grip on his hair preventing much movement.
“Now,” Selmak said. “I asked you to leave. So what are you going to do?”
“Leave my lord,” Daniel gasped, sincerely wishing he had left when first asked to.
Selmak dropped him to the floor and turned back to Janet, giving control back to Jacob. He smiled at her. “So my love where were we?”
Janet pulled him back to her and pushed him back down on his throne. “We were here,” she said straddling his lap and kissing him.
“So we were,” he said deepening the kiss.
Selmak's personal bodyguards immediately stood between them and Daniel and watched him leave.
---- ----- ----- ------
Several hours later Jacob watched as the leaders of SG 2, 3 and 4 were brought before him. Matheson did not look happy he decided. Shame really. “So gentlemen, Thank you for coming.”
“General,” Matheson said. “The message said you needed urgent help. Instead we get treated like prisoners by super soldiers and one of our own.”
“That's one of my own actually,” Jacob said. He laughed. “I actually own Jack O'Neill – what a delightful thought. As a matter of fact I own all of you.” He began laughing.
“You What?” Matheson asked looking at the others in horror.
Still laughing Jacob rounded on them his eye they could see glowing hot as Selmak took over. “They and you and soon every pitiful Tau'ri on your planet will serve me!” she said. “I have a mission for you. Two system lords are all that remain between me and supremacy. You will help SJ1 take them out.”
“I don't think so,” the CO of SG4 said.
Selmak rounded on him and before he had chance to react, she had removed the knife from his belt and slit his throat. “Anyone else want to argue?” she smiled. “Your allegiance or your life,” and she broke off laughing again, as that made her sound like an old fashioned highway man. Maybe she should add a long black cloak to her outfit as well.
Surprisingly, or not so surprisingly, no one had any more objections. “Good,” Selmak said. “My queen will attend you.” Her eyes narrowed. “And no you won't enjoy it …at first anyway.” She watched as they were led away to join the rest of their team members and be turned into jaffa.
Then giving control back to Jacob he first went to find a long black cloak. He smiled as Selmak giggled in delight as his reflection in the mirror. Then he went to see how Sam was doing. She was standing in the quarters assigned to her in a long white dress and veil which Jacob had given her. “You look lovely Sam,” he said kissing her forehead in greeting.
“Thanks,” she said. “I still don't know about this.”
“Nonsense. George!”
George entered the room. “My lord?”
Jacob smirked. “Take her hand.”
George did so.
Jacob smiled. “Dearly beloved… etc etc etc. Who gives this woman? Oh wait yeah I do. Blah blah blah. Ok with the power vested in me as System Lord I now pronounce you husband and wife. You may now take your wife.” He kissed Sam. “Congrats hon…. Go easy on her George … at first anyway.”
“Wait…Dad… is that it?”
“What did you expect Sam? Bells, flowers and a choir?” Jacob shook his head. “Just get on with the task in hand.”
Jacob watched as George grinned at Sam and swung her into his arms depositing her on the bed. Then shutting the door behind him Jacob headed back to his own suite of rooms and his wife.
Three hours later SJ1 minus Sam as she was on her honeymoon, accompanied by SJ2, 3 and 4 and the platoon of super soldiers headed through the gate to do battle with Chronos and Anubis. It was a bloody battle, with many of the new jaffa being lost. But Selmak's forces prevailed and the last two system lords were defeated, leaving Selmak raised to the lofty title of Supreme System Lord.
One week later.
Jacob nodded and the cell door swung open. “Bra'tac, how nice of you to visit,” he said giving the jaffa a bear hug. “Please come. I am sorry you got locked up like this and for so long. Things have been a little chaotic round here, weddings, honeymoons and so on. Hope you understand.”
Bra'tac looked at him suspiciously. “There are rumours of a new system lord,” he said extracting himself from the hug. “Most of the original ones are dead, only Anubis and Chronos remain.”
“Ah … no,” Jacob said. “Just heard…. They got wiped out by an apparently unstoppable elite force of super soldiers and jaffa. Such a shame when that happens.”
Bra'tac looked worried. “Then that leaves only one.”
“Looks like it,” Jacob said happily. “But we can't let a little thing like that get in the way.” He flung open the doors to the dining hall. “First things first….Dinner. A special one – Sam and her new husband have finally rejoined us after a week long honeymoon.”
Bra'tac looked round the table. “Hammond of Texas,” he said.
“Bra'tac,” George replied. “How nice of you to come. This is my wife Samantha.”
“Major Carter,” Bra'tac said.
“That's Mrs Hammond,” Sam said mindful of her husband's hand on her shoulder and the look in her father's eye, both of which said she had better do as she was told or else. Although if she didn't George had promised her he would deal with her most severely. She smiled at the thought; he had already demonstrated just what that would entail. He was a teddy bear really; just better not tell anyone that.
Bra'tac greeted the rest before going to Teal'c. “I must speak with you on a matter of great urgency,” he said.
Teal'c raised an eyebrow. “Indeed.”
Bra'tac did a double take. “You have hair.”
“Indeed. I did not pack a razor. And I have been told it looks … Super, fab, hip and trendy.”
It was Bra'tac's turn to raise an eyebrow. “And who told you that?”
“My lord told me.”
“What rubbish is this that you speak?” Bra'tac said. “You serve no one.”
“Oh but I do,” Teal'c said. “I serve Lord….”
“That's enough Teal'c,” Jacob said. “Janet worked very hard choosing the menu for this meal and we are here to celebrate love not talk politics. Eat.”
Teal'c nodded and started eating.
Bra'tac looked at Teal'c. “They are false gods as well you know and not worthy of praise or attention of any sort.” He stiffened slightly as he felt the tip of a knife in his neck.
“I said this is not a suitable conversation for dinner,” Jacob hissed. “Now be a good boy. Sit Down, Shut Up and Eat.”
Bra'tac twisted suddenly breaking free and taking up a defensive stance, pulling his own knife from his belt.
“Sit Down,” Jacob told him. “This is My house and You Will Sit Down.”
Bra'tac fixed a piercing thoughtful look. “You have changed Jacob~Selmak of the Tok'ra.”
Jacob snarled. “One the Tok'ra do not exist,” he spat. “Two I have not changed, I am the same person I always have been. Three…… its dinner time now Sit Down!”
Bra'tac looked at him. “The Jacob Carter I know would never dress in such a weird way. The skin of dead animals is abhorrent.”
Jacob's eyes flashed hard as Selmak came fore. “You Dare insult my dress sense!” she yelled. “You who wear that stupid helmet and dirty cloak dare to insult me.”
“Who are you?” Bra'tac asked as three of Selmak's bodyguard's moved forwards.
“I am your god,” Selmak declared throwing her arms wide. “And you will serve me!”
“Go to Sokar,” Bra'tac said rushing at her.
“That's gonna be a little hard. He is dead,” Selmak said using her cloak as a bull fighter would. Every time Bra'tac moved towards her, Selmak waved the cloak at him.
While the men were fighting, Sam leaned over to Janet. “Janet you know what they always say about Texans,” she whispered.
Janet nodded. “Yes and……?”
“It's true,” Sam said a big grin on her face.
George looked at her. “Dear, Texans don't brag, we just feel sorry for anyone not born in Texas …”
Rolling his eyes slightly, Jack looked over at the brawl going on. “You guys need a hand?” he offered.
“NO!” both Selmak and Bra'tac said together.
Jack shrugged and went back to his dinner.
After twenty minutes of Bra'tac baiting, Selmak paused slightly and mistimed her next run. Bra'tac charged her, catching her face with his knife.
Selmak cried out in pain, hand rising to her face, feeling the blood pour through her fingers.
Immediately the bodyguards sprung into action zatting Bra'tac and sending him to the floor.
Selmak withdrew to deal with the wound as Janet rushed over to him. “Let me see,” she said.
Jacob looked at her. “Selmak can handle it,” he said, but backed down when he saw the look in her eyes.
Janet examined the cut, which ran from his eyebrow down his cheek to his jaw line. “Nasty,” she said. “Although there is something ruggedly handsome about scars.”
Selmak came fore. “Really?” she asked excitedly. “How big a one should I leave?” She looked over at Jack. “It has to be bigger than his.”
“Oh FCOL!” Jack groaned. “My therapist tells me that size doesn't matter.”
“Well it does,” Selmak said looking pointedly at George.
Janet sighed. “Just give it a rest. About three inches of scar would be great,” she said, showing Selmak where to stop healing.
“Anything for you,” Jacob said coming fore and kissing her gently. He looked at where Bra'tac was coming round. “Put him back in the cells. I will decide what to do with him later.”
Janet saw to the cut on his face and then dinner carried on as if nothing had happened.
--- --- --- ---
Another week later.
Another pain hit and Janet screamed.
“Shut up!” Selmak said unsympathetically. “My previous host had 4 children and didn't make half the fuss you are. Stop screaming and start pushing. That way the baby is here sooner.”
Janet glared at her. “You are never touching me again!” she shrieked, her voice changing to another scream.
Selmak looked at her. “Just be grateful Jacob is sleeping! He rather enjoys you.”
“Well wake him up. I want to tell him then.”
Selmak shook her head. “You doctors really do make the worst patients,” she said. “Maybe we let Delek take over and give birth for you!” Her hand hovered over the detachment device a wicked glint in her eye.
“That sounds fine to me!” Janet hissed. “If either of you even touches me with a barge pole I will find the biggest needle in the infirmary and …….” Her voice changed as Selmak made good on her threat and forced Delek fore for the birth.
Two hours later Janet and Jacob, with his new 3 in scar on his left cheek, sat side by side on the bed, each holding a baby. “Twins,” Jacob said proudly. “You are so clever my love.”
Her anger and pain forgotten Janet smiled at him. “It wasn't all me… I had help. And I am sorry I made so much fuss. Do you still love me?”
“Of course I do. Let's just hope they don't turn out like their brother and sister.”
“So what do we call them?”
Jacob shook his head. “I don't know….. Let's worry about that later.”
Just then George came in. “My lord I am sorry to disturb you…..”
“Should think so too George. Meet the new kids…”
“Congratulations….. Samantha was asking if she could come and visit soon….”
“Sure she can…. So tell me what is it?”
“Bra'tac has escaped. I have sent the super soldiers after him.”
Jacob grinned. “He won't get far. Send out a clean up crew in the morning.”
--- --- ---
The base alarms started ringing and the words “Unauthorised incoming wormhole” swiftly followed it.
General Jack O'Neill looked at the group assembled round the table. “You guys stay here,” he said as he and the other officers sprang from their seats.
The Tok'ra delegation looked at each other and stayed in the room, but went to the window to see who it was.
O'Neill stood in the control room behind Walter Davies. “Who is it Walter?” he asked.
“Receiving IDC now sir….. It's Bra'tac.”
O'Neill looked at Teal'c. “Sweet. Open the iris.”
The iris opened and after a minute the bloodied and battered figure of Bra'tac appeared at the top of the ramp. Weapons fire followed him and Bra'tac fell to the ground.
“SHUT IT DOWN!!” O'Neill yelled. Thumbing the mic he yelled. “Med Team to the gate room Stat!” and he and Teal'c ran down the stairs.
Teal'c got there first. “Master Bra'tac,” he said gathering him into his arms.
Bra'tac's eyes flickered open. “The Tok'ra?” he managed. “Are they still alive….?”
O'Neill looked surprised. “As of thirty seconds ago yes. Why?”
“Contact them. I need to see…..” Bra'tac said and passed out.
--- --- ---
It was some time before Bra'tac regained consciousness. Teal'c hadn't left his side. O'Neill as requested had told the Tok'ra that Bra'tac was here and wanted to see them. Malek had seemed surprised at this but taken it in his stride as always. Delek had been put out by the fact that he had to stay here longer than he wanted, but Selmak had pulled rank on him so he had agreed albeit very reluctantly to stay and find out what Bra'tac wanted.
Once the Doc had declared Bra'tac fit enough to talk SG1 along with the three Tok'ra and O'Neill made their way to the briefing room where Bra'tac awaited them in a wheelchair.
Once everyone was seated, O'Neill said, “So Bra'tac what gives?”
“First you have to understand that I came a very circuitous route to get here. And still I was followed. This has put your world in danger and for this I apologise,” Bra'tac began looking suspiciously at Jacob.
Jacob looked back at him, wondering if he had put his Tok'ra jacket on backwards or something that morning.
“Don't worry about it. Been there, done that, got the tee-shirt, read the book, eaten the chocolates,” O'Neill said waving his hand.
Malek raised an eyebrow tempted to ask why the chocolates hadn't been shared.
Delek shook his head dismissively.
Jacob still wondered what he had done.
Bra'tac took a sip of the water Teal'c had given him, still looking at Jacob. “Thank you. The other thing you must know is that I have come through the mirror to get here. Yours is the only version of reality I found where it has not happened yet.”
“Wait a minute, General Hammond had our mirror destroyed,” O'Neill said.
“Ah well actually…..” Daniel began. “It's in a cave in P4X-672… you know the red tape on getting things destroyed round here…. Besides the Pentagon thought it might be useful one day.”
“Where was my memo?” O'Neill demanded. “Why didn't I get a memo on this?”
“You did…. You really should clear your desk,” Lt Col Carter told him with a smile.
O'Neill grinned at her. “You offering Sam?” he asked.
Jacob shot him a filthy look. “You stay away from my daughter,” he muttered to himself.
Carter grinned back at him. “Go get a life Sir,” she told him.
“Hmmmm, yes well…. Bra'tac you were saying…. The mirror?”
“I had no choice but to use it. As you can see I barely escaped with my life.” Bra'tac took another drink of the water. “Where I come from the Goa'uld no longer exist… all the system lords have been eliminated….”
“Cool!” O'Neill exclaimed.
“As have all the Tok'ra.”
“WHAT?” all three Tok'ra exclaimed at once.
“They were hunted down and murdered one by one. From the reports we received the high council was taken out at a meeting and the rest followed fairly swiftly. As far as I am aware only one remains and he is being used against his will.”
“Who?” Jacob asked.
Bra'tac looked at him suspiciously again and didn't answer.
Malek looked over at Bra'tac. “Which of us survived?” he asked.
“Delek,” Bra'tac said reluctantly. He looked over at him. “But you were removed from your current host and placed in a new one… that of the Queen. She … You… are providing broods of symbiotes for the super soldiers.”
Delek looked shocked. “W…what? … H...h…how?” he stuttered.
Malek rolled his eyes. “Did they teach you nothing?” he asked. “Or would you like General O'Neill to explain for you?”
Delek shook his head. “You know what I mean,” he snarled.
Bra'tac looked at him. “Your DNA was altered to that of a Queen,” he said.
O'Neill hid his mouth behind his hand as the image of Delek in a dress and tiara came unbidden to his mind.
“Who is responsible?” Delek demanded.
Bra'tac took another drink, “There is one Supreme System Lord, who rules with several platoons of super soldiers. The first prime is one of the Tau'ri…. One of your own number in fact as are most of the jaffa closest to him.”
“Oh wonderful,” O'Neill said. “Who is he?”
“The first prime is Hammond of Texas.”
“WHAT??” came the combined gasp from the SGC officers.
“Dare I ask who the jaffa are?” O'Neill asked.
“You and other members of the SGC are among the personal jaffa of this Supreme System Lord. He appears to delight in giving you, O'Neill of Minnesota, the worse jobs to undertake. In fact you Major… Col Carter,” he corrected looking at her uniform, “are married to Hammond of Texas.”
“I'm what?” Carter gasped. That was an even bigger shock. “Did I at least protest?”
Bra'tac looked embarrassed. “When I last saw you, you appeared delighted with his.... Texas stamina..."
“Dare I ask who my new host is?” Delek managed, finally able to speak coherently.
“Janet Fraiser is your host. And queen in more than one way. She recently gave birth to twins.”
“Great,” Jack muttered. “So who is this jumped up snake with delusions of grandeur? Do we know him?”
Bra'tac looked over at Jacob.
“What?” Jacob said. “You have been giving me strange looks all morning. I don't know anymore than…. Wait a minute… You are kidding….Selmak???”
Bra'tac nodded.
“WHAT???” came the shout from Everybody round the table. “System Lord Selmak??”
Bra'tac nodded again. “After the Tok'ra withdrew from the Alliance , Selmak systematically murdered the Tok'ra and then the system lords and minor Goa'uld. Apparently he never liked Delek, hence genetically altering him and taking him as queen.”
O'Neill wished he had a camera at that point as the look that Delek and Jacob exchanged was priceless.
--- --- --- ---
Jacob stood and looked at the babies sleeping in the cribs. He had to admit they were beautiful children as fortunately they looked like Janet. Either would make an ideal host when the time came. He was very tempted to call the female one Egeria just to annoy Delek even more. The male child they had named Samson. He had resisted Jack's suggestion to name the twin Delilah. But maybe they should.
He looked up as he saw the reflection of his first prime in the mirror above the cribs. “George,” he smiled. “How's married life? And when are you going to make me a grandfather again?”
George looked at him. “There's plenty of time for that. I have bad news.”
Jacob looked at him. “What could possibly have gone wrong now?”
“They lost Bra'tac.”
“So give the idiots a map!” Jacob growled his eyes glowing as Selmak came fore. “How did they lose him?? Are they completely incompetent or what??” Her voice rose with anger. “Who went after him??”
“SJ1 and a platoon of super soldiers my lord,” George said trying not to anger her further.
Selmak stormed out of the nursery not wanting to wake the babies. Two nameless jaffa in the corridor got blasted with the ribbon device and killed, one for not bowing as she went past and the other for simply being there. Selmak ranted and raved as they reached the throne room.
George did his best to calm her down but nothing was working. In the end he sent one of the jaffa to fetch Janet.
“Fetch SJ1 here now!!!” Selmak yelled. “I'll teach them what happens to incompetent fools who lose a traitor.”
George nodded and left to get SJ1. He passed Janet in the corridor. “Try to calm him my lady,” he said. “Otherwise it could get messy.”
Janet nodded and moved into the throne room. She went over to Selmak. “My lord,” she said bowing. Then she looked at her, knowing instantly who was in control. “What's happened?”
“Those idiots let him go!” Selmak fumed. “I should have dealt with him myself!”
Janet took the angry figure into her arms. “I know,” she said. “And you will. Let Jacob fore for me?” she asked, looking at Selmak through half opened eyes.
Selmak reluctantly withdrew, leaving an angry Jacob in her place.
He glared at Janet. “Don't you look at me like that!” he snapped. “I don't want to calm down. They have asked for it this time…”
“I know,” she said running a hand down his face. “But for now,” she leaned in and kissed him, knowing that that would take the edge off his temper. “I just want to kiss the father of my children.”
Jacob resisted for all of three seconds too angry for this, then his body betrayed him and he responded.
George reached the mess and glared at SJ1 and 2. “You lot have really done it this time,” he told them. “Lord Selmak is spitting fire.”
“Sweet,” Jack said. “Always admired someone who can do that.”
“In your direction!” George added.
“Ah,” Jack said. “Maybe now is a good time to go on that training exercise?”
“You will go and see Lord Selmak,” George said in his don't argue with me tone.
The three men round the table sighed. “We who are about to die,” Jack muttered getting up.
“Strength and honour,” Daniel said.
“To Oz,” Teal'c said and followed them from the room.
Jack and Daniel looked at each other strangely and then at Teal'c.
“Are we not quoting films?” Teal'c asked.
“No,” came the short answer.
Jacob pulled away from Janet as George led SJ1 into the room. “Leave us,” he said to Janet. “They won't need a doctor when I have finished with them. They'll need a priest.”
Janet kissed him and left.
Jacob turned to SJ1. “So how did you lose him?” he asked calmly.
“He went through the mirror my lord,” Daniel replied. “We followed him to several places but lost him when he went through the Stargate.”
Jacob glared at him. “Where did he go??”
“Earth,” Daniel said. “He was badly injured by this point but they closed the iris before we had a chance to follow.”
“Earth?” Selmak said sharply. “And through the mirror first??”
“Yes,” Daniel said. “I am sorry….”
“Not as sorry as you will be,” Selmak said. She nodded to the supersoldier. “Take him outside and kill him.”
Daniel struggled as the big guy in armour grabbed him. “You can't,” he yelled.
Jack moved into stop him from being taken. “Selmak you can't do this. We all were on that team. We all let him get away.”
Selmak smirked. “Then you all die,” she said. She looked at SJ2. “All of you.”
The supersoldiers moved in and took them all prisoner.
George looked at Selmak. “Is this really necessary?” he asked.
Jacob looked back at him. “Oh yeah. I am sick and tired of people Not doing what I tell them too. They need to be taught a lesson. Assemble everyone in the courtyard in ten minutes. Janet and Sam needn't come. It'll just ruin your honeymoon if Sam sees this.”
Sam came into the room in search of her husband. “Hey hon… hey dad,” she said, sliding an arm round George. “I needn't go where?”
“Execution of some traitors,” Jacob said shortly. “Nothing you need to see. In fact why don't you and George go spend some time together?”
George looked at him. “I want to see the execution. In fact I wouldn't mind doing one of them myself.”
Jacob grinned at him. “Certainly my friend.” He looked at Sam. “Why don't you go back to your suite and wait for your husband?”
Sam looked at George and smiled. “Don't be long.”
Jacob looked at her. “He won't be. I want grandkids. Right George, shall we?”
George nodded and he and Jacob moved into the palace courtyard. Both armed themselves with staff weapons and looked at the seven bound men tied to posts at the far end.
“So who's the big man now?” Selmak taunted. “You know I have wanted to do this for so long but I will let George handle yours Jack. Where as the Shol'va is mine.” She swung the staff weapon up and levelled it at Teal'c, firing in the same movement, killing him instantly.
“Selmak stop!” Jack yelled. “We're sorry okay…. It won't happen again.”
George looked at him. “No it won't,” he said. “I have wanted to do this for a long time now.” He raised the staff weapon and fired, deliberately taking his time over killing him.
Jacob had executed Daniel and the four members of SG2 before Jack was finally dead. “You having fun George?” he asked.
“Oh yeah,” George replied.
Jacob grinned. “Have the jaffa take out the trash,” he said. “Then go see Sam. You need to work on those grandchildren.”
--- --- --- ---- ---
Meanwhile back through the mirror on Earth…..
Jacob and Delek were still looking aghast at each other. Neither able to believe they were actually married and had kids in another reality. <At least it's Janet's body> Jacob said to Selmak.
<Which means she is not dead there> Selmak said. <I know how much you miss her.>
<I do but at the price of betraying everything we stand for? Why would you do it?>
<Kill Delek's host and marry him? Ummmmm must have been a moment of weakness….. Plus it's simply wicked to turn Delek in a functioning queen as queens spawn night and day, right and left. I wonder if they're up to their eyes in little symbiotes. But, the idea that he's stuck doing everything we say... heh heh heh and having absolutely no choice in the matter.>
<Yeah that I could live with, but married to Delek??> Jacob glanced at him <Sorry but he is so not my type.> Jacob looked at O'Neill. “What are you going to do?”
O'Neill looked at him. “I suggest we send a team through the mirror and go and sort out you… Selmak….whoever and show them that is not the way nice people behave.”
Malek looked at him. “There is a problem with that. Two people can not exist in the same time frame. It causes temporal entropic cascade failure.”
“I knew that,” O'Neill said. “We had that with Sam a few years back.”
Carter shuddered. “Don't remind me.”
Malek looked at them. “There is a way round this…”
“Send Delek?” Selmak said wickedly.
Delek pulled a face at him.
Malek shook his head. “I have devised a way to avoid this. If I leave now I can be back with the antidote in an hour.”
“Do it. I am going with,” Selmak said abruptly. “I need to know why I would do something like this.”
O'Neill nodded. “We need to wait for Gen Hammond anyway. He is coming from the Pentagon as soon as he can.”
Carter looked at him. “Can we please keep quiet the fact I am married to him in this other reality?” She blushed slightly. “It ummm might make things awkward.”
“At least it's not someone a little closer to home,” Selmak said looking pointedly at O'Neill.
“There speaks someone married to Delek,” O'Neill smirked. “But sure Sam the secret is safe with me.” He turned to Bra'tac. “What were we… they wearing last you saw them?”
“Tight black leather,” Bra'tac said. “You wore the tattoo of a small s. Selmak was also in leather with an eye patch and a cloak.”
O'Neill nodded. “You heard the man. We go in leather and take out another bad guy. Bra'tac you'll need to draw Selmak's insignia so we look like her Jaffa . If you know what General and Colonel Hammond were wearing..."
Sam made a noise, akin to a kitten being stepped on.
"Oh, you're keeping your maiden name? Progressive," O'Neill retorted quickly, "Well details on General Hammond and Colonel Carter-Hammond were wearing would be helpful."
Bra'tac nodded. “Then I must return as well.”
“We'll go together,” O'Neill told him. “All for one and one for all and numerous other quotations.”
--- --- --- ---
P5B-728.
Jacob sat on his throne, Janet on the one next to him, each with a baby in their arms. “So have you decided yet my love?” Janet asked. “Delilah or Egeria?”
Jacob smiled at her. “I am still thinking. Maybe something different.” He glanced up as George came in. “Good morning. And how are you this morning?”
“Tired my lord,” George answered. “I have come from the cells. They have awakened.”
“Oh goody,” Jacob said, his eyes glinting. “And how are they this morning?”
“Repentant. It did take several hours of long arduous punishment however before they saw the error of their ways. They have sworn allegiance to you now my lord.”
“Good,” Selmak said. “That pleases us greatly. There is however one task they must do to prove their loyalty. In the armoury we have some of those really big bombs don't we?”
George looked at her. “The ones that can take out an entire planet?”
Selmak nodded. “They are to send two. To Earth.” She started to laugh. “Then I know where their loyalty lies.”
George nodded. “I will order it now my lord.” He saluted and left the room, returning to the cells. He looked at the seven sorry figures sat there. “There is one task Lord Selmak wishes you to undertake before you will be granted a pardon and reinstated.”
Jack looked up. “Hasn't she done enough? We have been killed over and over and over.”
“Oh not your death,” George said. “We've run out of amusing ones there. There is a gift for the people of Earth she wishes you to deliver personally.”
“It is our honour to serve,” the seven men replied. They had learned their lesson well and were not going to fail their lord again.
“Then go to the armoury and take two type 4's and send them to Earth. Have them primed to go off five seconds after arrival.”
“Type 4,” Jack said, just to make sure he heard.
“Type four,” George repeated. “You have a problem with that jaffa?”
The seven men shook their head.
“Good then see too it. Take them to the gate. Lord Selmak will be there to watch the delivery.” He watched as they headed out to the armoury. He thought for a moment that that would mean the planet of his birth would no longer exist. Then moved on, not allowing himself even a moment's pity.
The seven jaffa of SJ1 and 2 worked quickly. They did not wish to anger Lord Selmak and be punished again. They took the two bombs from the armoury and then transported them to the gate.
Selmak, Janet, Sam and George stood waiting there. Selmak couldn't stop grinning. This would rid the universe of the Tau'ri problem once and for all. There was no need to go after Bra'tac. She had ordered the mirror destroyed and he would then die due to the temporal entropic cascade failure anomaly.
Earth
Malek had arrived back with the antidote and it had been given to the team going through the gate. O'Neill had won the argument and was going to lead it himself. Major Davis from the Pentagon was going to assume command of the SGC while he was away.
Hammond looked round the briefing room. “Well I must say I love what you have done with the place Jack.”
“Thank you Sir.” O'Neill briefed him on what they knew so far, glancing at Col Carter every so often.
She looked at him, pleading with her eyes for him not to say anything.
Hammond looked at Jacob. “And you have no idea why you or Selmak would change like this?”
Jacob shook his head, “None whatsoever, which is another reason we are going to find out.”
O'Neill looked at Sam and winked.
Sam shook her head at him then stopped and blushed as Hammond looked at her. “Something wrong Col ?” he asked.
“No Sir,” she managed.
“Good.” Hammond turned to O'Neill. “When do we leave?”
O'Neill looked at him. “About ten minutes Sir.” He looked at Carter and started whistling Deep in the heart of Texas quietly.
Carter blushed harder.
Jacob shot O'Neill a filthy look. “That's enough Jack.”
“What? For crying out loud, he has a right to know. After all you are his….”
"Alright! Alright! I'll tell him! Just stop whistling!" Carter said. She looked at Hammond . “The thing is Sir; in this other reality… you and I are …..” She paused.
Hammond looked at her. “Are what Colonel? Your father is a system lord, I am his first prime and most of this facility are his jaffa. Just how much worse can it get?”
O'Neill smirked but wiped the smile off his face at a glower from Jacob.
“Ummmm, we're married,” Sam told him.
Bra'tac, who up to this point had remained silent, looked up. He commented “The alter Samantha appeared delighted with your Texas Stamina...”
“Oh please,” Jacob sighed. “What is it with Texas anyway??”
Both Carter and Hammond blushed. "It's just the way it's always been ..." Hammond said. Then the two of them looked at each other sideways, as if to say, "I'm married to HIM? ... HER? "
“Hey it could be worse,” O'Neill said.
Carter looked at him. “How could it possibly be worse?” she asked.
“You could be married to O'Neill," her father and her husband....err.... General Hammond said as one, before giving a dramatic shudder of complete horror. "Could you imagine being married to HIM?"
"Oh yeah, you're right," Sam said weakly.
“Actually, I was thinking that you two could have kids.” Silence fell like a stone. O'Neill covered by saying “And Selmak might not be living on P5B-728. It could be Delmak…. You know Selmak from Delmak??”
“Selmak from Delmak???” Jacob said rolling his eyes. “I think its time we left.” He got to his feet.
---- ---- -----
P5B-728
The gate opened and Selmak watched gleefully as SJ1 and SJ2 manoeuvred the bombs into position and set the timers. “Send your codes,” she instructed.
Jack raised the GDO and sent his code though.
“Receiving IDC now ma'am,” Chevron Guy told Dr Weir. “It's SG1.”
“About time too. Open the iris,” Weir said.
The iris opened. “This is Col O'Neill,” came the radio message. “I have a gift for you, from the Lord of P5B-728.”
“Send it through Col. When will you be coming back?”
“Soon. Here it comes.”
A few seconds after he spoke two huge metal objects appeared on the ramp. They resembled pineapples. “What are they?” Weir asked.
“Five, four, three, Goodbye Doctor,” Jack intoned.
There was a huge white light, an explosion of pain and then nothingness.
The wormhole flashed several times and then closed. Selmak laughed wickedly. “Now the Alpha site and the Asgard homeworld,” she said cheerfully. She gave control to Jacob. He barked a few orders to the jaffa and then he and Janet headed back inside. “And Chulak too,” he tossed over his shoulder.
SJ1 worked efficiently and soon completed the tasks they had been given. They headed back to the palace.
Night fell and Selmak held a huge feast to which all were invited. The gate was uncharacteristically left unguarded. All threats had been eliminated so there was no need for a guard so SJ3 decided and they sneaked off to join the feast. Just after ten pm the gate began dialling.
The gate continued to dial. “Chevron 1 encoded….. Chevron 2 encoded….”
“For crying out loud,” O'Neill snapped. “For almost nine years now I have stood here week in and week out listening to that same speech! Can you not say something different?”
Chevron Guy looked at him. “IDC received, incoming wormhole, unauthorised incoming wormhole…. Ummmm, there's a load of angry aliens coming through the gate…????”
“Where?” O'Neill said whirling round. “Oh ha ha, Very funny. “
“Chevron 3 encoded….”
“See there you go again. Say something different FCOL….”
Chevron Guy looked at him then at the console. “Yes, you know, you're right sir. Let me start again. Chevron 1 - asked on a date. Chevron 2 - took her on a romantic walk. Chevron 3 - first kiss. Chevron 4 – Engaged. Chevron 5 - Married. Chevron 6 - 2.2 kids and a dog and a cat. Chevron 7 - Divorce proceedings & joint custody …..How was that?” he deadpanned.
O'Neill raised his eyes heavenwards. “I said something different, not a potted history of their love life.” He left the room and went down to the gateroom where the rest of the team stood. Malek and Delek were joining SG1, Hammond and Jacob~Selmak on this one.
Major Davis stood by General Hammond, Hammond giving him a last few pointers on running a base.
O'Neill looked at him. “You look after my base ya hear?”
Davis nodded. “Of course Sir.” He neglected to mention the redecorating the Pentagon had planned for the next 48 hours. Grey was out and crystal blue was in. Apparently crystal blue was the new grey.
The blue light of the wormhole filled the room. “Malp telemetry is clear.”
O'Neill looked at Bra'tac. “And you know where to go once we reach the mirror?”
Bra'tac nodded. “I marked it. No doubt the Stargate will be heavily guarded on P5B-728 but that is a plank to go over when we get there.”
“Bridge to cross,” Teal'c corrected having learnt this one on far too many occasions from O'Neill.
The teams moved up the ramp and entered the event horizon gating to P4X-672 where the mirror was kept.
--- --- ---
The feast had reached the time for the speeches and everyone was waiting to hear what Jacob was going to name the babies. Samson they knew but everyone was on tenterhooks waiting for the name of the female twin. He stood and tapped the glass with his fork.
Silence fell. “Thank you all for coming to the twins naming feast,” he said. Not that anyone had a choice because except those guarding the gate attendance was obligatory on pain of death. Jacob looked round everyone. “The male twin will be named Samson,” he declared, raising his glass.
“Samson,” everyone said toasting the baby. Then they looked at Jacob expectantly.
“And my daughter,” Jacob said proudly. ”Who is looking more like her Mom every day…” he paused. “And who had made me very happy by marrying a good man…Sam. Now what would make it perfect was if she was telling me that I was going to be a grandfather.”
“We're working on it but Rome wasn't built in a day,” George catcalled much to the amusement of everyone at the celebration.
Sam blushed and slid her hand into George's. She hated to admit it but her dad had been right. Marrying George was a good thing. George was an adult for one thing and he treated her much better than Jack did. In every aspect of their relationship. And at the rate they were trying her new brother and sister would have a niece or nephew shortly. At least the announcement of such.
Jacob raised his glass again. “To Sam and my son-in-law George,” he said.
“Sam and George,” everyone said. Okay that wasn't what they were expecting but no one was going to argue.

“Are you sure this is the right reality?” O'Neill hissed to Bra'tac.
Bra'tac nodded and pointed to the sign on the edge of the door. It read ‘This one.'
“Ah” O'Neill said. “This must be the one then.”
“Are you really sure?” Daniel questioned. “It might have been an alternate Bra'tac that….”
O'Neill waved his hands dramatically. “Daniel!”
“Jack!”
“Daniel!”
“Jack!”
“Daniel stop it. We are going to this one. When you are in charge you get to choose okay.”
One by one they all touched the mirror and found themselves on the other side.
“Where are we?” Selmak asked.
“Delmak,” Bra'tac answered with a slight smile. “We need to gate from here.”
O'Neill grinned. “See Selmak from Delmak after all,” he said.
“Shut Up,” everyone chorused and started to head towards the gate. Effectively back the way they had just come.
They reached the gate and dialled P5B-728.
--- --- --- ---
Jacob looked at Janet and beamed. “And to my youngest daughter, who also is as beautiful as her mother. May she grow to be as wonderful and as fertile as her mother…“
“Mothers,” Selmak added with a smirk, “As Delek has reached the one million mark in symbiote production this morning….”
Janet blushed and felt Delek cringe within her as the hall applauded again.
Jacob smiled at her. “Don't be embarrassed my love. Anyway back to the baby. She will be named….” He broke off as someone rushed into the hall.
“My Lord….” The jaffa said, dropping to his knees.
“What is it?” Jacob asked irately.
“The Chappa'ai has been activated.”
“It's guarded,” Jacob said raising his hand as SJ1 and George leapt to their feet. “The baby's name is….”
“Begging my lord's pardon the Chappa'ai is not guarded.”
Jacob's eye glowed harshly and Selmak too control. “WHAT!!??” she yelled. She rounded sharply on SJ1 and George. “Get to the gate. Call out the super soldiers and when you find SJ3 KILL THEM!”
O'Neill exited the gate first gun ready to fire if needed. He moved down the steps wondering why the gate wasn't guarded. He had the distinct impression he had been here before although he knew he hadn't. Must have been in another reality - Oh wait he was in another reality.
SJ1 moved swiftly towards the gate. The super soldiers circled round the area forming an impenetrable barrier between the gate and the palace.
--- --- --- --- ---
Jacob sat in the throne room, the party over. The guests departed and the women folk and babies safe in his set of rooms with SJ4 guarding the door. To say he was annoyed was an understatement. He had planned the evening, was going to name his new daughter, give his wife a great honour and it was ruined, purely because a few miserable jaffa couldn't keep watch on the gate.
The more that thought rattled round his head the angrier he got. The Whole Evening Ruined; just because they didn't do their job properly. They would pay for this with their lives once this was over. They would die slowly and painfully and just the once. And he had just the death in mind. The rite of Hara'mat'alia – the crushing of the symbiote in such a way it allowed the symbiotes blood to mix directly with that of the host. It was a very slow and immensely painful death.
--- --- --- --- ---
The rest of the team came through the gate which closed behind them. O'Neill looked at Bra'tac. “Which way now?”
“This way,” Bra'tac said indicating. “It is a walk of about how do you put it clicks?”
Teal'c nodded. “That is indeed the term we use Master Bra'tac.”
“Then it is 3, 175, 435 clicks.”
Everyone looked at each other in shock. “But that's the other side of the planet,” Carter said.
Bra'tac looked at her. “It is this way come.” He moved off clicking his fingers rapidly and counting under his breath as he went.
Jacob looked at him. “What are you doing?” he asked.
“Counting the clicks,” Bra'tac said.
O'Neill looked at him. “That's klicks as in kilometre or 1000 metres,” he said, “Not as in click,” and he clicked his fingers loudly and impatiently.
“Ah,” Bra'tac said. “In any event we must go quickly.”
“Go where exactly??” said a familiar voice.
SG1, Tok'ra and Hammond swung round as one and did a double take. “Jack?” Jacob and Hammond said at the same time.
SJ1 Jack looked at his counterpart who seemed just as shocked as he did.
SG1 O'Neill looked him up and down. “Nice….outfit,” he said.
SJ1 Jack shot him a withering look. “Yeah same to you,” he said. He clicked his fingers and the super soldiers moved from the tree line arms raised and pointing at them. He smirked at Delek. “Lord Selmak will be so pleased to see you.”
Selmak balked slightly at that comment. <That title is So not me!> she said to Jacob.
<And what would you prefer? Queen?> Jacob asked.
<That's Delek> Selmak giggled.
<Behave. Incase you hadn't noticed we have several guns pointed at us.>
SJ1 Jack looked at Jacob. “Hey Jacob – meet the kids.” He indicated the super soldiers. “Every single one of them prodigy of Lord Selmak and Queen Janet ~ Delek.”
Jacob and Delek looked at each other in horror. Hearing it was one thing, actually seeing it was another.
"And I guess I should call you Mom and Dad as well, I've got one of them in my gut also," SJ1 Jack said. " Dad ."
"I am NOT your father," Jacob snapped.
SJ1 Jack looked at them. “Come on, Lord Selmak doesn't like to be kept waiting.”
The jaffa herded the group towards the palace. SJ1 Jack moved over to Bra'tac. “And my lord is especially looking forward to seeing you again.”
--- --- --- --- ---
George moved into the throne room as soon as news came that the visitors had been apprehended. “My lord Jacob, the jaffa are on their way back here now.” He paused. “With the team that came through the Stargate.”
Jacob looked at him. “Oh?”
“Bra'tac has come back… With SG1.”
Jacobs's eyes glowed. “That's not possible!” Selmak yelled.
“My lord he went through the mirror….”
“I ordered that destroyed!” She broke off. “Let me guess SJ3…”
George nodded. “Yes my lord.”
Selmak picked up the candelabra from the table next to her and threw it across the room swearing in Goa'uld as she did.
George sidestepped things as she threw them.
Then she swung round on him. “You say they are coming here?”
George nodded. “They should be here shortly. SG1 have been accompanied by Malek, Delek and the alternates of us.”
Selmak smirked. “Delek hey? Well, well, well, this time I can kill him. Bring them here.”
George nodded.
--- --- --- ----
SG1, Hammond and the three Tok'ra were shown into the empty throne room by SJ1. Several super soldiers guarded the door and kept weapons trained on them.
“Love what you have done décor wise,” SG1 O'Neill muttered to Jacob. “And the jaffa's outfits are so…” He broke off as someone kicked him hard.
“You will be silent!” First Prime George yelled. He looked at Lt General Hammond who looked back in utter amazement at the sight of ‘himself' dressed in black leather with the tattoo of the first prime on his forehead. For some reason First Prime George looked annoyed.
"They gave you the third star? I never got a third star," First Prime George growled.
The rest of SG1 looked at their former CO in horror.
SG1 O'Neill rubbed his head, as he knew perfectly well that his head would start to spin. "You know, maybe overthrowing the US government was a career limiting decision," he inserted helpfully.
"Jack SHUT UP! And that is an order," growled Lt. General Hammond.
"Thank you, George. I see that Jack's mouth is a universal constant. Where was I? Oh yes. You will all kneel before your god,” First Prime George told them.
O'Neill looked at him. “No can do…. You see I have this small knee injury and….” He broke off as First Prime George whacked him across the backs of his legs with a staff weapon. Gasping he fell to his knees and then he noticed that Lt. General Hammond was smirking.
"You think this is funny, George?" SG1 O'Neill snapped.
"Sometimes you did get a little mouthy, and I daydreamed about doing something like that," Lt. General Hammond admitted.
Several staff weapons were immediately pointed at the rest of the group. “You Will Kneel or you Will Die,” First Prime George said.
The rest of the group with the exception of Delek knelt, all of them hating the idea but deciding it was best for now to play along. Once they knew what was happening they could act.
First Prime George moved over to Delek. “I said kneel.”
“And I bow to no one,” Delek said. “Not to you, not to the council and not to a false god.”
Footsteps crossed the room. “Nothing changes does it,” said a voice.
Everyone looked up in shock.
The colour drained from Carter's face as she saw her father striding across towards them. Only it wasn't her father as he was kneeling in shock next to her.
“Close your mouth Samantha. It's not becoming to gawp,” the voice said. The cloak swirled round her legs as Lord Selmak stood arrogantly looking down on her prisoners. “Well Master Bra'tac, you should have stayed away when you had the chance.” She pulled out a zat and fired sending Bra'tac to the ground. “Bye. See ya, glad not to be ya,” she added and fired twice more, disintegrating the body.
Then she moved over to Delek. “Kneel before your god,” Lord Selmak told him.
“I bow to no one,” Delek said. “Especially not to traitors who have betrayed everything the Tok'ra stand for. You are nothing. You have proved what the council have always suspected. You have been influenced by your host.”
Lord Selmak laughed. “And you are the jumped up, self important hypocrite you always were. An arrogant, self serving little worm and only thinking of yourself. Well let me tell you something.” She poked him hard in the chest with each phrase. “When push came to shove and all the Tok'ra were dying one by one, like the vermin they are, You pleaded for your life. You tearfully begged me Not to kill you, which I wasn't going to as I had plans for you. And now you are serving me for eternity and the best part is, you can't even complain.” System Lord Selmak laughed in delight, and even her First Prime laughed.
She looked him up and down. “Your new host is far more compliant, and a great deal lovelier to look at. And you make such a lovely queen too; and a productive one - one million symbiotes as of this morning.”
Delek looked stunned. Then recovering slightly said “I would never beg for my life from a traitor like you.”
“Good. You keep on thinking that, even though I had my wife and First Prime George watch. We even captured your whine on a data crystal, so we can watch it over and over and over again, as you were just so entertaining. Keep thinking you were strong. We don't want you debasing yourself any further do we now?” Lord Selmak said. “Oh and I did get some of my idea's from my host so I guess you could say he influenced me in a small way.” Pushing her cloak back she pulled the sword from her belt and ran Delek through with it.
Delek looked down at the sword in shock, gasping with pain.
“Earth movies can give you such good ideas, you really should watch them. Only you can't can you?” Lord Selmak said pulling the sword out. “Cos you're dead, or will be very soon.”
Delek's never-named host clasped his hands to his stomach and dropped to his knees, Delek the symbiote knowing there was nothing he could do to save the host. He looked at Lord Selmak for a minute before falling to the floor, his sightless eyes staring out at the rest of the prisoners.
Jacob reached out a hand and took Carter's. He couldn't believe either he or Selmak were capable of this and yet here they were dressed in tight black leather of all things killing people in cold blood without a second thought. He had no illusions that he too would die as would his daughter.
Lord Selmak looked at him and Carter and smirked. “Touching,” she said. “You know I have always wondered what it would feel like to kill myself. Now I get to find out.” She looked over the group and turned to First Prime George. “Where are the Shol'va and Dr Jackson?”
First Prime George ran his eyes over the group. Teal'c and Jackson were indeed missing. “I will send SJ3 to find them,” he said.
“Not SJ3!” Lord Selmak yelled. “They couldn't find anything to eat in a well stocked larder! Not to mention fail to organise a party in a bar!” She turned to two of the super soldiers. “Find them and kill them.” She watched them leave and then turned back to her prisoners.
“Kill them,” she told First Prime George. “All of them.”
First Prime George grinned and lowered his staff weapon. SJ1 doing the same. None had any problems with this. One their lord had requested it and her word was law. And two they all knew that they couldn't exist in the same reality as their doppelgangers so it was in their own best interests to remove them now.
“Not so fast,” said a voice from the door. “Let them go.”
Lord Selmak whirled round to find her wife and daughter in the doorway. Both were carrying a baby and had a gun pointed at their heads.
“Janet!” Carter gasped.
“Sam?” Jacob managed.
“Get your hands of my wife!” First Prime George growled.
The very much unmarried Carter looked at him in horror. “Your what ??!” she shrieked.
Lt. General Hammond looked at Major Sam Hammond seeing her in a different light now that she was in a rather revealing dress that showed off her cleavage and her very long legs.
SG1 Jackson tightened his grip on Janet. “I said let them go.”
Lord Selmak moved towards them. “Or what? You'd kill her?” she laughed. “I don't think that would be a good move. I mean that's my wife and my son you have there. Not to mention George's wife.”
“Your son?” SG1 Jackson asked.
“Oh yes, we named him Samson as he will live to bring an empire crashing down. The Tau'ri Empire to be precise.”
“And the other baby?” the unmarried Carter asked hesitantly.
“His twin sister,” Lord Selmak answered. “Your arrival interrupted their naming ceremony.” He looked over at First Prime George. “I am yet to be blessed with grandchildren.”
"We're working on that little problem, night and day," his First Prime retorted.
"Night and day?" Lt. General Hammond murmured, not wanting to even think that his doppelganger was a very, very lucky man indeed, as in his reality, he hadn't been on a date since his wife died.
"It's that Texas Stamina thing," Mrs. Major Hammond replied. "You just don't get exhausted as quickly as Jack, and honestly, you're a bit more creative."
"HEY!" said both Jacks and the unmarried Carter in unison.
"That's just so not right, Carter," the two Jacks said in synch.
"Great, it's like they share one brain between themselves," growled First Prime George and Lt. General Hammond, who realized that it was a great deal funnier when the Jack twins talked in stereo then when they did.
“You already have two grandchildren!” The unmarried Carter said, trying to get the subject off Jack's lack of stamina as her father was giving her the Very Evil Eye and We'll Talk About This Later, Samantha, If We Get Out of Here Alive look. “What about Mark's children??”
“Dead along with the rest of Earth, Chulak, the Alpha site and Orthala,” Selmak grinned. “All that stands between me and supremacy is you lot.”
SG1 Jackson tightened his grip on Janet. “You are going nowhere. You order your jaffa to stand down.”
“Or What?” Lord Selmak said. “You'll kill them? I don't think so somehow.”
“This isn't Janet,” SG1 Jackson said. “And that's not our Sam.”
The married Sam looked at Lt General Hammond. He looked the same as her George but he wasn't. "You know, Sam, between us, George is better for you than him," the happily married Sam said, pointing at SG1 O'Neill. "If you ever get out of here alive, give him a twirl or two, let him knock his Texas boots a few times on your bed posts, and you'll see what I mean."
"Hey! I thought we came here to save the galaxy as we know it, not exchange gossip!" spat the much maligned SG1 O'Neill.
George moved swiftly over to Teal'c. “Unhand my wife Now!” he yelled.
“I think not,” Teal'c said. “I will not hesitate to pull the trigger if you do not release my friends.”
First Prime George looked at wife, Sam, who then patted her belly and smiled at him.
The unmarried Samantha Carter realized what her doppelganger was saying, and she gasped loudly.
Sam looked at her First Prime of love George. “I love you,” she said. “Do what you have to do. It's such a shame that I only had such a short time to experience tru wuv .”
SG1 O'Neill inserted, "True lust is more like it.
First Prime George nodded. “Rule 1,” he said. “Shoot the hostage,” and he opened fire.
Sam closed her eyes as her husband raised the staff weapon and fired. Gunfire seemed to erupt over the entire room simultaneously. Pain shot through her as the staff blast ripped into her leg. She staggered, her knees buckling at the impact and then lost her balance as she was pushed roughly forwards. She screamed as another shot ripped through her. She was vaguely aware of someone calling her name and then cradling her as she fell to the ground. Gun fire raged round her, but all she was aware of was pain. She looked up into the eyes of her husband; at least she assumed it was her husband and not his doppelganger. “George,” she whispered. “It hurts.”
“I know and I'm sorry,” her husband answered, tears in his eyes. “Just stay with me.”
The baby screamed from where she had fallen, her twin brother screaming in his mother's arms.
Lord Selmak moved closer to Janet and Jackson. “Let her go!”
“And lose the advantage?” Jackson said. “You won't shoot her; even if your first prime did shoot his own wife.”
Lord Selmak glared at him. “A flesh wound only,” she hissed. She moved towards him, the bloody sword still in her hand.
Jackson shook his head. “No, she's on the floor over there. Dying. Look if you don't believe me.”
Lord Selmak moved fast, using the superior military skill of her host, going behind Jackson and putting the tip of her sword to his neck. “Now Let Her Go Daniel.”
“And if I don't?” Jackson said.
“Then I will run you through where you stand,” Lord Selmak hissed.
“Or I will kill you… ah me… ah whoever…” the other Daniel said coming over to the aid of his lord and lady.
Jacob looked at Janet, all the old feelings he had for her coming back. He watched as his evil twin circled round and threatened to kill whichever Daniel it was holding her. Then his eyes fell on his alter daughter laying in the arms of, he assumed, her husband. He moved over to her. “Sam?” he said.
She looked up at him. It looked like her father, in some way was but it wasn't him. “It hurts,” she gasped looking away. Her pretty blue gown was stained red now, the stain growing. The dying larva she carried crawled out of her pouch, unable to heal her.
George cried out as he saw it. “What have I done?!” he said. “Samantha don't leave me.”
“I … love … you…” she gasped. “It wasn't you… two shots…aaahhhhh… Geo….” and she closed her eyes surrendering to the blackness that was so close now.
“Noooooooooo,” her husband cried as her lifeless body slumped in his arms. Rage filled him and he stood up raising his staff weapon and whirled round firing blindly.
The first blast caught Malek and he dropped to the floor crying out. His eyes looked up at the crying female twin as he lay dying next to her, his hand outstretched towards her. Then they closed for the final time.
The second blast caught several of the jaffa sending them lifeless to the ground.
As he fired he cried out in rage and a fury of emotion. He had finally found someone he loved and she had been taken from him.
People dropped to the floor as he fired, some hit and some to avoid the gunfire; the battle picking up in both pace and bloodshed.
SG1 O'Neill slugging it out with SJ1 Jack, which under any other circumstance would have been amusing. The main bone of contention actually being that the SG1 version of himself had made General and was now running the entire base.
Teal'c took on his alter self each shot dodged and replied to each equal ferocity. And their problem? Women of course, well one woman in particular.
Carter and Lt General Hammond took on the super soldiers. All the away team were armed with the modified TER's and they took what cover they could, returning fire, soon dispatching them all. Then they turned to help the others.
The main problem they had was no one was really sure who was fighting who, especially as the fighting got fiercer and SJ3 and 4 joined in; SJ3 of course fighting for the wrong side. Carter laid into one of the Jack's wondering which one it was as she hit him below the belt.
One of the Hammonds shot her an admiring look as she did and she wondered worryingly which one it was.
--- --- --- --- --- ----
When the dust finally settled, one side was holding the other at gunpoint. Both sides were wounded. The supersoldiers and SJ3 lay dead on the floor.
Then the Georges went back to the Sam's, both now a victim to staff blasts in the leg and abdomen. “Samantha,” they said in unison.
Lord Selmak stepped away from Daniel's body and moved over to Malek. She checked for a pulse but there was none. At her touch the weakened symbiote moved and unnoticed left the dead body of his host.
The female twin continued to cry. Jacob moved over to her and picked her up, cradling her gently in his arms. She looked so much like her mother.
Janet moved over to where the two Sam's lay next to each other. “Let me see,” she said. She looked at Jacob who was stood with the baby in his arms and then turned back to the Sam's. Checking them over Janet glanced up at the men and shook her head. “I'm sorry; neither of them will make it.”
Grief shot through both Jacob's as Janet spoke.
Lord Selmak looked down at Jacob. “Hand over my daughter!” she said slowly and insistently. “You may have killed one by coming here but you are not touching this one. Give her to me now.”
“She was my daughter too,” Jacob said his voice tight with emotion. He looked down at the baby in his arms. “So much like her mother,” he said.
“Give her to me,” Lord Selmak insisted.
Jacob looked at the baby and handed it over to his doppelganger.
She took the baby and smiled at her. “You want your name little one?” she said gently.
Janet looked up. “You decided?” she asked getting to her feet.
Lord Selmak nodded. “Delilah,” she said. “And Janet after her mother … Delilah Janet.”
Janet squealed and threw Lord Selmak one of her beaming smiles and a look that promised a proper thank you later.
Lord Selmak kissed the baby gently then handed her to her mother. Then she looked squarely at her doppelganger. “Obviously this situation can not continue,” she said. “They are too evenly matched. I suggest we settle this the old fashioned way.” She beckoned to him. “Come with me.” Looking at the body of her daughter and daughters doppelganger she added, “Place them in the sarcophagus. Revive them and then bring them back here.”
Blinded by tears, George picked her up and stumbled from the room, followed by Lt General Hammond who carried the body of the other Sam.
“What about Daniel?” SG1 O'Neill asked.
Lord Selmak waved a hand dismissively. “Oh him too; but the other traitors stay dead.”
O'Neill picked Daniel's body up and escorted by SJ1 Jack headed towards where the sarcophagus was kept.
Jacob and Lord Selmak moved across the throne room and stood deep in conversation. Admittedly Jacob was doing most of the listening and then arguing loudly and forcefully. The occasional shout echoing across the hall, but in the end he reluctantly agreed to the suggestion.
Once the Sam's, Georges and Jack's and Daniel returned, Lord Selmak turned and faced them all. “There is only one answer to this,” she said. “You cannot be allowed to return through the mirror. You will simply regroup and come back again. So….. We will settle this the old fashioned way. A duel … Pistols at 40 paces at dawn. The winner takes all. The loser forfeits not only his life but the lives of his team as well.”
“That's barbaric,” Sam and Sam gasped.
“You can't!” Janet said.
The others looked shocked.
Teal'c and Teal'c simply raised an eyebrow and looked superior.
“The exceptions to this are the twins and Janet. Their lives are exempt. The decision is made.” Lord Selmak moved to the windows. “And it will soon be dawn so no time like the present.” Moving back over to Janet she took hold of her and relinquished control to her host, who pulled his wife into his arms and kissed her passionately. “I'll see you soon,” he told her. Then his eyes glowed as Selmak came fore again.
Lord Selmak looked at her first prime. “You will be my second,” she said. “I will instruct the super soldiers in what to do. They will see the terms of the agreement are kept.”
George nodded.
Jacob looked at his Sam. “Sammie would you be my second?”
“Sure Dad,” she replied hugging him.
--- --- --- --- ---- ---
Dawn touched the dark sky sending pale rosy light across it. Carter and George each checked both of the 17 th centenary Earth duelling pistols. Then they loaded one each and passed it to the other to be checked. Then both were put in the box and the box taken to Janet who moved the pistols around then took the box to where the two men stood back to back.
Lord Selmak looked at Jacob. “After you,” she said.
Jacob's hand paused over the box then picked one of the pistols hefting it in his hand. He couldn't believe it had come to this. He was about to kill himself or be killed by himself.
Lord Selmak dropped the cloak to the floor and took the remaining pistols.
George stated counting as the two identical figures turned and paced.
The supersoldiers divided the groups into two. SG1 on one side and SJ1 on the other. Weapons were trained on each person as per Lord Selmak's instructions. Once the winner was declared the losers team mates would die before the winner had chance to renege on the agreement.
The count reached 40 and both men stood stock still. The early morning mist swirling round them adding to the surrealness of the situation.
“When you are ready,” called George.
It was all over in a matter of seconds. Both figures whirling and firing simultaneously; one falling to the ground, the other still upright clasping his arm where the bullet had torn into and through it. Jacob dropped the gun to the ground and watched as the super soldiers executed those they had been told to.
Shock reverberated through him as his alter daughter died but for the others it was weird. They were dead but not dead. Mind you the same was true of Sam but she was his or rather his doppelgangers. Too confusing, he decided.
He moved back over to the others. “Let's go home,” he said. He picked up the fallen cloak and put it round Janet's shoulders, which were shaking as she wept. “We need to destroy both mirrors. We can't allow this to happen again.”
Sam looked at him. “Dad you're hurt,” she said taking one of the babies from Janet.
Jacob brushed her off. “Selmak can handle it,” he said. “Let's get out of here.” He glanced at the bodies lying on the ground. Then allowing Sam to help him led the way to the gate, the others following.
Daniel dialled and they stepped through the gate and walked to where the mirror was. Setting a charge against it to go off in thirty seconds, they all touched the mirror and went through it.
Jack set a charge against the mirror this side of the quantum rift and they all stood a ways back as the charge went off first on the other side blanking the image and then in their reality too.
“That's an end to it,” Jacob said. He pulled off the eye patch and shoved it into his pocket. “Let's go home.”
Janet looked at him. “I have no home,” she said. She looked down at the twins in her arms.
Jacob put an arm round her. “You will always have a home with me,” he told her, kissing her lightly.
They went back to the gate and Daniel once again dialled, sending the IDC code through.
Moving down the ramp they were met by Major Davis. “Welcome back General,” he said saluting Jack.
Jack looked in horror at the gate room. “What have you done?” he gasped.
“Orders from the Pentagon Sir …. Crystal blue is the new grey. The whole base was redecorated.”
Jacob slapped him on the back. “Get used to it Jack. It's quite relaxing after a while.” He looked at him. “I ought to get back, report to the council and tell them we lost Malek and Delek.” He sighed. “Malek will be missed. Delek on the other hand….” He looked at Janet. “No offence.”
Janet smiled through the tears. “He says something unrepeatable.”
“No change there then,” Jacob laughed.
“You will all need checking over first,” Major Davis said. “The ummm … babies included.”
They all trooped to the infirmary, George still giving Sam appreciative looks as she still wore the dress.
Janet walked close to Sam, not wanting either of her children out of her sight. She got many strange looks in the infirmary, especially when they realised she was a host. She sighed and explained that she was Tok'ra not Goa'uld and they accepted that. They just did cursory checks of neck rather than full medicals as there was an epidemic of d & and v sweeping the base staff and they didn't want to pass it on.
They all passed the medicals, the babies being declared healthy, especially Delilah who was by far the stronger of the twins. Which the medics found amusing given the fact her twin was called Samson. Then someone cracked a comment about the fact Samson would be weak as he had no hair like his father.
At which point Janet decked said medic and stormed out of the infirmary demanding to be sent somewhere off world immediately.
---- --- --- --- --- ----
Six hours later.
Jacob stood in the gate room once again attired in the drab Tok'ra fatigues. He carried a small holdall and Delilah. Beside him stood Janet with Samson in her arms.
Jack came over to him, Teal'c, Daniel, Sam and George behind him. “We're going to come with,” he said. “Figured the council might need convincing you and Selmak are sane and not gonna go Goa'uld on them.”
Jacob grinned. “Thanks Jack… I think.”
George slid a hand cautiously into Sam's smiling at her.
Sam smiled cautiously back and looked down at his hand in hers.
Jack shot them a withering look and figured he had lost her for good but there were bound to be more women out there … somewhere.
Jack turned to Major Davis. “Try not to redecorate anything more this time.”
The gate dialled and they left the SGC heading for the Tok'ra base.
--- --- --- --- --- ---
The meeting did not go well. The council were shocked to put it mildly. Voices were raised and tempers got frayed.
“You mean to tell me,” Garshaw began. “That you rose to the rank of Supreme System Lord in an alternate reality?”
Selmak nodded. She had taken control for this. Didn't want them thinking her host was trying to interfere or give her ideas. She had enough of those as it was. She turned and looked at the others standing behind her.
George squeezed Sam's hand and smiled at her, the smile widening as she smiled back at her, her eyes twinkling.
Then Selmak's eyes hardened and glowed hard. “And now,” she said “I will rise to Supreme System Lord in this reality. You really think that weak Tok'ra version of me defeated me?? Why do you think they call me Supreme??? Bow before your god or die like the vermin you are.”
The council as if one got to their feet. “What treachery is this? Selmak would you betray us?”
“Me? Betray the council and the Tok'ra?” Lord Selmak asked. “Yeah in a heartbeat…. You are nothing. You are weak and vermin and nothing. You are a disease that needs wiping from the galaxy the same way the Goa'uld do. And I am the one to do it.”
As if one Lord Selmak and SJ1 withdrew their weapons and slaughtered the council members.
Lord Selmak turned to her loyal jaffa. “And now we begin. You will all receive the reward I promised you.” Moving to each in turn she removed the Goa'uld symbiote they were carrying in their pouches and presented it to them. “Accelerated growth and all the knowledge they need from myself and Delek. Now you will all become my children.” She looked at Jack. “That does not give you the right to call me Dad.”
SJ1 nodded and their eyes glowed one by one as the symbiotes took control.
Lord Selmak smiled. “You know what to do…. Oh and George?”
