It was completely dark but fortunately she hadn't been afraid of the dark since she was two. It was also incredibly bumpy and she was grateful she did not get airsick. Being a pilot had its advantages in some cases. She kept her eyes tight shut, her mind focused on the mission and the reason they were here. The one man she would be willing to walk into hell for was her father. Little did she realise she would one day literally be doing that.

There was a stomach churning jolt as the capsule slammed into the ground and the door opened, the hot suffocating air rushing into the confined space. For an instant she thought she was going to bake alive inside and out as the sulphurous gases filled her, making her lungs burn and her eyes sting. She closed her eyes, her hands going to them instinctively as she coughed and gasped for breath.

Memories flooded her mind. Cries of pain, faces, torture, pain, a face, someone touching her, something she had never wanted Martouf to know about. She forced her eyes open, focusing on the reason she was here. To find Dad and bring him home. A voice echoed through the thick smog around her. “Carter? Daniel?”

“Over here!”

She pushed her way out of the capsule. “This way,” she called.

“Let's move!” came the order and she got up. Time to do her job.
